Analytical Chemist

Position

Responsible for the preparation and analysis of radioactive and chemical samples generated in NorthStar’s production or development laboratories, maintenance and calibration of analytical measurement equipment, and may assist with quality control of products. The Analytical Chemist will be comfortable with cGMP documentation processes, using critical thinking skills to assess whether data makes sense and will hone problem solving skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain and calibrate analytical instrumentation, including but not limited to: MP-AES, ICPMS, IC, HPLC, and TOC.
  • Operate, maintain and calibrate radiation measurement equipment, including but not limited to: HPGe, LSC (with alpha and beta counting modes), gas proportional counters, dose calibrators, survey meters, and wipe test counters.
  • Preparation and analysis of samples (radioactive and non-radioactive) with a variety of instrumentation.
  • Perform radiochemical separations as needed to support product development.
  • Review, evaluate, prepare and follow Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and Reports.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related physical science and two or more years of related experience or a Master’s degree in Chemistry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Previous experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory making cGMP / GLP measurements is required. Previous experience in a radiochemistry position with an understanding of radioisotopes used in nuclear medicine desired.
