The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will report to a specific engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Irradiation, Chemical Process, Manufacturing, or Controls) within the Engineering organization.
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will be responsible for various activities associated with research, development, assembly, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and testing of NorthStar’s equipment. In performing these tasks, the technician will work closely with engineering staff to define their scope of work and project related tasks. Equipment may include, but is not limited to hot cells, chemical processing systems, isotope target manufacturing systems, conveyors, process cooling systems, associated system controls hardware/software, and manufacturing aids.
This position will require work within both Good Engineering Practice (GEP) and current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) space and must be able to properly document and execute all activities
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build, troubleshoot, test, and maintain lab scale, pilot scale, and production isotope processing Systems. Systems are generally compromised of electro-mechanical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and chemical processing equipment.
- Support of equipment from start-up through commissioning/qualification and into production.
- Perform commissioning and qualification on equipment as required.
- Understand sourcing process of necessary tools and materials.
- Perform basic fabrication, such as cutting, drilling, tapping, and possibly welding.
Associate’s degree in a science or technology discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with PLC programming is preferred. Experience with maintaining and modification of GMP pharma and/or medical device production equipment is preferred.
NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes is headquartered in Beloit, Wis. This location is our primary manufacturing site and accommodates all of our corporate functions.
