NorthStar develops, manufactures and distributes radioisotopes that are used daily for patients needing medically important diagnostic imaging tests. NorthStar is the first company in nearly 30 years to produce the radioisotope Mo-99 in the United States NorthStar’s processes are non-uranium based and the Mo-99 is used by radiopharmacies across the country to produce the imaging radioisotope Tc-99m. NorthStar will scale-up production over the coming months and years and intends to become the industry’s market leader. The Nuclear Pharmacy Laboratory Technician will provide support in NorthStar’s radiologic science laboratories within the Nuclear Pharmacy team. Responsibilities will include laboratory controls, maintenance and calibration of equipment, manifestation and disposal of radioactive material, preparation of laboratory solutions, assistance with product development/production, and general laboratory maintenance.
Duties will be completed in compliance with applicable cGMP, FDA, and all other regulatory agencies’ standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain proper laboratory controls including equipment calibration, radiologic assays, pharmaceutical compounding, solution preparation, inventory control, chromatography reagent preparation, and quality control testing.
- Perform routine and non-routine experiments and/or analyses following NorthStar procedures and guidelines.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate radiation measurement equipment, including but not limited to: dose calibrator, survey meters, dosimetry monitors, and wipe test counters.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate non-radiation equipment such as balances, ovens, pH meters, pipettes, and temperature monitors.
Associate’s degree in a related science discipline or related medical field or two or more years of experience handling radioactive materials and operating radiation detection equipment. Knowledge of ALARA principles required. Previous experience in a nuclear pharmacy, nuclear medicine department, laboratory setting, or cGMP environment preferred.
