The Process Chemist is responsible for developing and scaling up chemical processes and recommending equipment for the commercial production of NorthStar products. They will work in laboratories and production facilities to develop and test chemical production processes. Processes will include having to work with radioactive materials. Testing may include the development of test methods and working with analytical instruments as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and/or scale-up chemical processes including liquid/liquid extraction, dissolution, precipitation, extraction chromatography, polymerization and other processes.
- Operate laboratory and commercial scale equipment; perform chemical analysis on samples, both radioactive and non-radioactive.
- Maintain laboratory notebook in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.
- Plan and conduct testing to generate data in support of product development.
- Write test plans, reports and other related documents.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related physical science/engineering and up to 2 years of experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and skill in operation of scientific equipment is required. Knowledge of Product Development Life Cycle ranging from product specification and concept development to product release is desired. Knowledge of FDA regulations in medical device/pharmaceutical environments, Product Development Life Cycle, and experience with radioactive processing is preferred.
