Working within the Radioisotope Instrumentation Engineering Team, this position will be responsible for the design and implementation of software for Radioisotope Instrumentation and other projects. This includes gathering customer requirements, generating product specifications, and developing novel radioisotope instrument technologies. The Software Engineer will design and develop applications for medical products and other non-medical applications related to the company’s needs. This person is also responsible for working with other Software Engineers and cross functional teams, including RA/QA, Manufacturing, and Mechanical Engineering, and other disciplines to apply cGMP processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned:
Utilize and remain proficient in a Windows based software platform, including but not limited to C#, Source Control, T-SQL, and Visual Studio development tools. C++ experience is highly desirable, but other native object oriented languages can supplement C++ experience. Experience with Python, NUnit or similar test framework, Nuget, XML, JSON, and MSMQ are desirable, but not required.
Familiarity and understanding of object-oriented principles (abstraction, encapsulation, polymorphism, etc.), design patterns and anti-patterns, pointers, asynchronous threading, delegates, garbage collection, algorithms, recursion, SQL databases, serialization and deserialization, real-time programming, communication protocols, MVVM, continuous integration, automated unit testing, software API design, working with large code bases, and similar topics.
Perform software design and development in a structured, controlled software development environment.
Work in a multi-disciplinary team to develop solutions using software designs to solve application and instrument control requirements which meets objective performance characteristics.
Work in a multi-disciplinary team to create solutions meeting customer requirements.
Comply with all company quality, regulatory system requirements, and coding standards, advocating for accuracy and completeness to ensure source control management and continuous integration.
Develop working software designs that are supportable, testable and efficient at solving company product requirements.
Assist other departments with verification and training as necessary for software implementation.
Be adaptable to changes that result from rapid growth and provide solutions to customer problems that improve their experience with the company.
Effectively communicate safety and quality issues raised by customers or staff in a timely fashion.
Support NorthStar’s Quality System and Health and Safety Program by following procedures and mentoring others.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and two or more years programming experience of instrumentation or control systems using a Windows based development environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with medical device design and development and/or cGMP compliance strongly desired.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficient knowledge of software development tools.
Familiar with FDA regulations
