Senior Radiochemist

Position

The Senior Radiochemist is responsible for analyzing radioactive samples generated in NorthStar’s production or development laboratories, maintenance and calibration of radiation measurement equipment, and may assist with quality control of products. As the senior member of the Science group will assist management in day-to-day operations as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform radiochemical separations as needed to support product development
  • Review, evaluate, prepare and follow Standard Operating Procedures, method validation, and equipment qualifications
  • Plans and conducts testing to generate data in support of product development and commercial operations
  • Investigate and develop hypotheses related to radiochemical isotope production issues or failures
  • Assist in the optimization of radiochemical syntheses for isotope production.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Chemistry or related physical science and 6 or more years of experience in a Radiochemistry position; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Understanding of alpha, beta, and gamma counting equipment calibration, operation, and maintenance required. Knowledge and experience using Eichrom Technologies extraction chromatographic resins are preferred.

Location

NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes is headquartered in Beloit, Wis. This location is our primary manufacturing site and accommodates all of our corporate functions. Beloit has a small city charm, with a lively and renovated downtown, yet is also close to cities such as Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, and Rockford.

Beloit is a part of the larger South Central Wisconsin/Northern Illinois region, which offers residents and visitors a unique blend of urban opportunities and rural, natural beauty.
